# Pelton turbine System Erlach: In the press

Since 2011 the Pelton turbine System Erlach has found an echo in the daily press, the trade press and research. Here are the reports, each with its source.

This page is about **System Erlach**: the horizontal Pelton turbine with up to six nozzles designed by Josef Erlach. What holds for every Pelton turbine is marked “Pelton turbine” in the heading. The difference is explained in the overview [Pelton turbine](https://www.erlach-erlach.com/en/pelton-turbine/) System Erlach.

## FAZ 2011: “How to get more power out of water”

Georg Küffner presented Josef Erlach’s invention in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung: the horizontal Pelton turbine that takes up to six nozzles because a ring on the axis keeps the discharged water away from the runner. The prototype ran at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences under Professor Thomas Staubli, who according to the FAZ confirmed its advantages in principle. ## ZfK 2011: “Turbine der Moderne”

In 2011 the Zeitung für kommunale Wirtschaft, the trade paper of German municipal utilities, reported on Josef Erlach’s machine under the title “Turbine der Moderne”.

## TU Wien 2023: design approach by Erlach and Staubli

TU Wien studies distributors with axial inflow and names the work of Erlach and Staubli, and of Erlach and Erlach, as a design approach. Further works that refer to Erlach are listed under [Pelton turbine research](https://www.erlach-erlach.com/en/pelton-turbine/research/).

## zek HYDRO 2025: Troyer presents the “Pelton Turbine System Erlach”

The trade journal zek reports how Troyer presented the horizontal Pelton turbine with three to six nozzles for small hydropower in Flums, under the inventor’s name.
